Sound Analysis
Demise soundtrack: Once the overall genre of the film was recognised as zombie we decided we needed a soundtrack as action full as the moving images. Most soundtracks within zombie genres build up as the trailer runs, building suspense and tension for the usually action packed climax. The trailer World War Z (2013) used a very climatic soundtrack, the trailer begins with no sound just the overlay of diagetic sounds, however it is soon followed by a loud growing soundtrack with a beat rythm every 10 seconds symbolising explosions, gun fire and other action related movements. we considered the soundtrack as very effective as the overlay of the zombie flowing images which is something we could use within our horror.
From looking at other trailers a noticed running theme was the beat/rhythm which was sounded with every action or suspensful image. The idea of a sound or rythm to expand the effect of our images is something we wanted to connote in our work as the beat also links in with the zombie genre and all connotations to it such as suspense, fear and tension. The first soundtrack/sound as part of our overlay was a ticking clock. The clock can usaully be a very iconic symbol especially in the film franchise of saw where the whole theme is the characters running out of time, its also a similar concept to the zombie genre where time moving fast can cause more problems. Our non diagetic ticking clock has also been sped up in editing to symbolise the fast growing feeling that the characters are running out of time which also links perfectly to our plot. The fast ticking clock also keeps the fast beat which is constant throughout the whole trailer allowing it to keep rythm with the moving images.

The main soundtrack which will featurethe most is the running beat instrumental of a hip hop song produced by famous artists. The soundtrack is a fast paced with an action building beat to the back ground. The tunes loud echoing beat over the piano played in the background is the thing we want loudest over the trailer, as this was the thing we found most popular within other succesful trailers. The almost melow feel to the soundtrack gives an eerie sense of danger and is constantly building a supsense and feel that something may happen to the seemingly innocent characters.

The final overlay sound track is a ambient horror track which displays convential horror sounds such as echos and schreeches from the distance. The soundtrack is very effective over the other sounds in the trailer as it creates the eerie horror effect which is need for jump scares, the frequent high pitch echos also make it alot more dark and gloomy. The sounds add to the overall emptyness feel about a zombie apocaylpse and the idea that horror could be behind any corner.
