Intial ideas
From the start of our project we wanted to create a trailer that was the complete opposite of the work that was submitted last year. We wanted to create a fast-paced, action-packed trailer that still contained all of the elements of a horror trailer. From this point, all we needed to do was decide what subgenre of horror would best suit what we wanted to create.
Deciding on the zombie subgenreAfter extensive research we decided that the zombie subgenre would be best suited for what we wanted our trailer to be like. The nature of zombie trailers tended to be fast pace, and most often full of action shots. This seemed to be ideal for the stye of trailer we wanted to create.

Creating a Narrative |
Initial ideas |
Our research established that during a trailer a sense of narrative was important; so we had to create a story for our trailer to follow. The original idea was to simply have a zombie survival story, however we decided that, in order to add an extra element to our horror, we needed to add something differant. We were inspired by a recent story arc of the popular television show 'The walking dead' in which survivors were lured to a location and killed for meat. We decided that to make our horror different, we would emulate this stroyline and add in human threat, as well as the threat of the undead

The first ideas that we had in mind were more for an action film than that of a horror trailer. At first, when we discussed the trailer as a group we decided that we wanted a trailer full of stunts and zombies. While this would have made for a interesting trailer, it did not hold up key horror conventions that would make it necessary to meet the brief. It would also have been very difficult to film with a low budget. It was for these reasons that we switched inspirations from films like 'World War Z' and turned to TV shows like 'The walking dead' which had a lower and more manageable budget and still managed to create fear and tension.

Storyboard |
After we had decided what was possible and what would be too difficult to film we started to storyboard the trailer. The storyboard was redrafted twice to make sure that we had the best possible ideas in the trailer. Once it was created we used it as a guideline for our trailer, but occasionally we strayed off of it, as we were unable to know exactly what we would be able to film and what would look good (NE)
