Metacritic- Who's renting what horror?
Metacritic is an online based company who give honest reviews and looks into new and upcoming films based on other websites reviews. The site then calculates the over all value and gives the film a rating or score. For our personal requirements this site is a great asset as we can see how and why they have given certain films certain ratings, and we can also look into comments and improvements on which makes films successful. When entering the site the viewer is faced with the metacritic home page which is easy and simple for a viewer to navigate . With on the home page the main attraction is the middle places box which includes the five latest films either hitting cinemas or being released on DVD and blue ray. These five films on show have underneath a rating an a link to read the review. As our genre chosen was Horror we used the search bar to see how Metacritic had rated various horror trailers and what points we could take from the review. (TB)

When typing in the genre of 'zombie' we was shown Meta critics top list of 'zombie' films and trailers. Within this genre Metacritic considered the film 'ZombieLand' (2009) The most interesting and therefore gave it the highest rating in the zombie genre. The site gave it a rating of '73'. In which is considered a better than average score to receive. However a lot of the top scorers on Metacritic under the genre of 'zombie' seemed to link into themes with comedy and adventure in which sums up what the sites favorite kind of zombie horrors are. As well as Metacritic own scores the films are also given a feature so that users can give there scores and reviews. Looking again at the film 'ZombieLand' The users (members of the public) all voted in which an average rating was achieved. The users gave the film a higher rating than Metacritic with a score of 80. Some users also left comments and ideas on how the film could have been better. (TB)

From this we can see the critics personal reviews on the Metacritic top rated zombie film 'ZombieLand' and what each of them independently scored/rated it. When clicking further from the search results the viewer is shown not only the critics reviews but also the users reviews and how many on average gave a positive, mixed or negative score. From looking through various comments by users and the critics we found the theme of actors or roles within the film to have a lot of positive comments towards the success of the movie. From this we read that a lot of people saw the actors as very important figures in the film and were overall very interested within how they played there parts. Therefore we are going to take this into account when not only picking our main actors but when also filming, so that we can assign the right roles and parts to suit the right people. This will hopefully make our teaser trailer more successful as we hope the audience will give positive views towards the assigned roles of the actors within our trailer. (TB)
